Pilo Mella is the Student Program Manager for the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, Regional Office in Santiago, Chile. She is responsible for planning and overseeing the DRCLAS academic and internship programs in the Andean and Southern Cone countries of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Peru, serving over 100 Harvard students per year. She also facilitates exchange programs for Chilean medical students to participate in clinical rotations at the Harvard Medical School and viceversa.
Before joining the DRCLAS Regional Office in 2003, she worked for four years in Boston as a Spanish language instructor at Harvard University, Tufts University, the University of Massachusetts, and Boston University. Prior to that, Pilo spent nine years in Israel, where she took Hebrew language courses and taught Spanish in a public school in Tel Aviv. In Concepción, Chile, she also worked as a Spanish language instructor at Universidad del Bio-Bio and Universidad San Sebastian. A native of Chile, she holds a B.A. in Education from the Universidad de Chile.
